Harmony Gardens is located in beautiful, sub-tropical Central Florida on the 35 acre, private estate of Aragon Ranch in DeLeon Springs - home of Ponce De Leon's fountain of youth. We are just north of DeLand and west of Daytona Beach. The gardens are located on approximately seven of the 35 acres and include separate wedding ceremony, dining, and reception gardens.
Years of providing exotic tropical plants to customers all over the United States have left us with an incredible collection of exotic gingers, heliconias, elephant ears and other tropical and sub-tropical plants artistically planted in a multi themed outdoor venue that will handle "sit down" events of up to 150. All of which is situated under a thick canopy of oak trees. Evenings are a special treat as the garden is lighted and artisan made torches blaze through the night.
A Brief History: Aragon Ranch was started in the early 1970's, by Joe King, just retired from the movie industry. Known as "The Voice", Joe was in high demand as a movie, commercial and news commentator, even having won an Oscar. After years of commuting from New York to Miami and keeping a rigorous schedule, he and his wife Doris were looking for a quiet getaway retreat. Joe loved horses and so they began Aragon Ranch, on which Doris began cultivating beautiful gardens to enjoy. She planted camellias and azaleas by the dozens. In fact she has one camellia bush dedicated to each of her grandchildren.
Years later Malcolm, their youngest son, and his family moved back into the area and started Harmony Gardens, a tropical plant nursery. He expanded on that love of gardening and he and Doris designed and planted even more gardens together to demonstrate the landscaping potential and to provide design ideas for their customers. Over time the gardens had become so beautiful that their customers began asking to hold wedding ceremonies at Harmony Gardens.
When Malcolm's daughter Leah was engaged to be married, she was thrilled to hold her ceremony on the family estate amidst the beautiful gardens. Her now husband Joe and his family built the marble dance floor, which is a focal point in the gardens, in honor of the upcoming wedding.
Leah and Joe returned to the area several years later and now own Harmony Gardens. Joe is incredible with plants and is constantly designing and redesigning features within the Gardens. They think it is amazing to be able to work with couples to make sure they have the "fairy tale" wedding they have always dreamed about.
